If you search the 375 page comprehensive plan you will find “elementary school”, “middle school”, and “high school” are found just once. “school” is found 133 times, always in passing and never in the context of the needs of the school district for our children. The plan must be updated to include substantive analysis on traffic, infrastructure, walkability, the numbers of schools needed to accommodate a growing population. For example, the lack of planning was a contributing factor in the friction between the city and the public schools over the location of the new middle school.
That the public schools were so obviously left out of the comprehensive plan is a baffling (and expensive) oversight, which must be quickly corrected.
